A man aged in his 20s is due in court this morning charged in relation to an attack on an elderly man in Limerick last Thursday.
The man aged in his 80s was left uninjured but very shaken when he was robbed in the toilets at Roxboro Shopping Centre.
Meanwhile a woman (89) is recovering in hospital after she was mugged outside her house in the Rossbrien area of the city on Sunday night, when she returned home from bingo.
The attacker grabbed the elderly lady, dragged her to the rear of her house and assaulted her.
The man had lay in wait as the pensioner was dropped off by a taxi at her home. The lady was turned upside down and assaulted, and the man fled with €20 in cash.
The woman is being treated in hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The Mayor of Limerick City, Jerry O'Dea, told Newstalk Breakfast the assaults have worried locals.
