Nearly half of Irish insurance customers likely to change provider this year, survey finds

Nearly half (45%) of Irish insurance customers are likely to change their provider this year.

That is according to a worldwide study released today by EY.

It also shows that just 3% of people have complete trust in their insurance company, marking the lowest level globally.

However 50% said they had a moderate level of trust in their insurance providers.

James Maher of EY Ireland said, “The low levels of trust and high degrees of switching intent among Irish customers may reflect the limited personal interaction they have with their insurers.

"Irish customers often research prices online when policies are taken out and this is also a trigger for switching," he added,

David Kerr is the managing director of Bonkers.ie. He spoke to Newstalk Breakfast this morning, saying he does not think the numbers planning to switch will all follow through:
