"They are extraordinary... They came to court yesterday and they were in the same courtroom as the people who tried to kill them" - that's what a Tipperary family's solicitor had to say after his clients saw the seven man gang who threatened to kill them during an armed raid sentenced to 72 years in jail yesterday.

Kieran Cleary, the solicitor for the Corcoran family who were subjected to an aggravated burglary at their home in 2013 says, says they have lost their livelihood as a result.

Yesterday seven men - all with addresses in Dublin - were handed sentences ranging from 12 to 20 years for the aggravated burglary at the home of Mark and Emma Corcoran in Burnchurch.

At Clonmel Circuit Court, Judge Tom Teehan said the incident was a terrifying one for the couple and their three young daughters.

Solicitor, Kieran Cleary, told Newstalk.com's Breakfast show the Corcorans had run a successful business before the incident, but that has completely collapsed: "No question of compensation, no offers, nothing".

Mr Cleary says the family had a successful courier company and they were targeted because of their ethic of hard work.

"They lost the business. They lost everything. Absolutely everything".
