Oscar Pistorius is due to be released next week 10 months into his prison sentence. The athlete was sentenced to five years for the death of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
The former athlete hasn't applied for early release but it has been recommended by the prison in Pretoria where he is currently being held.
He is due to be released on Friday, 21st August.
However, he may not remain free indefinitely as his case is still subject to a Supreme Court appeal. If the appeal is successful, he could be facing a murder conviction and a minimum jail term of 15 years.
According to the Independent, correctional services officials have declined to provide details of his conditions for supervision. However, his travel will be restricted.
Ms Steenkamp's family said in a letter to the parole board that "10 months for taking a life is simply not enough."
"We have forgiven Mr Pistorius even though he took the life of our precious daughter, Reeva," the letter said.
"Our lives will never be the same as we live with the sadness of her death every day. Reeva had so much to offer this world and we were all robbed of her life when she was killed."
