Tyrone woman Michaella McCollum and Melissa Reid from Scotland, who are accused of drug trafficking in Peru, could face a six-month investigation if their guilty pleas are not accepted.
The Peruvian prosecutor in the case made the comment after McCollum and Reid made a second court appearance last night.
He didn't give details of the private hearing but suggested the women's confessions haven't yet satisfied prosecutors. The women have been asked to give 'clarifications' by the court after they asked for their sentences be reduced to 6.8 years.
The two were were arrested after 11.5 kilos of cocaine was found in their luggage at Lima Airport in August.
