The Humanist Association of Ireland have launched an advertising campaign, calling on the public to end discrimination against children who are not baptized in state funded schools.
The ads are placed in train stations, bus-shelters and other prominent locations around the country.
This morning, Brian Whiteside, a director of the Humanist Association of Ireland and Dr. Frank Hurl of Catholic Comment discussed the issue on Newstalk Breakfast and we asked you would you baptise your child for the sole purpose that they could attend a certain school?
The results are in and it appears that, while there is still a significant percentage of the population willing to baptise their child for education purposes, the majority are opposed to undertaking the religious ceremony purely for the needs of a school.
49.9% voted that they would baptise their child for the sole purpose of attending a certain school, while 60.1% said they wouldn't.
