Dublin City Council has voted to retain a 15% reduction in Local Property Tax for 2016.

Last night, council members voted to keep the reduction - joining the three other local authorities in the county.

Owen Keegan, the Dublin city chief executive, had advised against a reduction in the tax rate for the coming year.

This was a call that was supported by the Green Party.

However councillors chose not to heed the advice and overwhelming approved the cut.

Eamon Ryan is the leader of the Green Party - and he told Newstalk Breakfast it is about more services for local residents.
