Later today a plethora of Ministers will come before Dail Committees seeking extra funding for their Departments.
The €680 million Health Minister Leo Varadkar is seeking has been flagged, but the Departments of Education, Transport, Agriculture and Environment are among those seeking the rest of what is a combined sum of €1.1 billion from the State coffers.
The head of the Public Accounts Committee is hitting out at the number of Departments looking for more money at the end of the year.
According to the Irish Times, the funding appeal breaks down as Transport, Tourism and Sport (€162 million); Education (€103 million); and Agriculture, Food and the Marine (€177 million). The Department of Environment will ask for €34 million.
They have also reported that almost €30 million will be required to cover shortfalls in pension provisions.
Fianna Fail Deputy John McGuinness, who heads up the Oireachtas spending watchdog, told Newstalk Breakfast it's not good enough.
