The Cabinet re-shuffle will now be announced at the earliest tomorrow and it is possible it could even run to Friday.
Meanwhile the Taoiseach has revealed that one of the agreements he has with Tánaiste Joan Burton is free GP cards for over-70s.
All the speculation about a possible announcement today on a Cabinet re-shuffle was brought to an end this afternoon in the Dáil.
The Taoiseach and newly appointed Tánaiste still have much talking to do, and there is a scheduled meeting of Economic Management Council.
But even if the talks accelerated and the shape of the renewed government came together this evening or tonight, an announcement would not happen before tomorrow.
However at this stage some people are even planning towards an announcement on Friday.
Not all of the discussions are being kept secret with An Taoiseach Enda Kenny confirming in the Dáil that one of the items in the draft agreement with the Tánaiste is for GP cards for over-70s.
Meanwhile it is understood one proposal being looked at by the Taoiseach and Tánaiste is the restructuring of government departments with Transport, Tourism and Trade being one and Defence and Heritage being another.
