Taoiseach's State of the Nation speech analysed

The Taoiseach has used his national address to say we are 90% of the way through tax hikes and spending cuts but he warned we must stick to "prudent budgetary policies".

Enda Kenny marked the official end of the bailout by thanking Irish people for the work they have put into the recovery and promising to focus on job creation.

The Cabinet is expected to sign off on a post-Troika economic plan tomorrow.

Chief Economist with the Institute of International and European Affairs is Dan O'Brien. He told Breakfast here on Newstalk the plan is aimed at three audiences - voters, the Troika and the international markets.

While Fionnan Sheahan, Group Political Editor with the Irish Independent, told Breakfast here on Newstalk while the speech was an improvement it did not give much away.
