The Taoiseach's made an 11th hour appeal to teachers to call off tomorrow's planned secondary school strike.
Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin appealed in the Dáil for the Education Minister to stand back and take a fresh approach.
But Enda Kenny says the proposals now are reasonable and that it's the teachers who need to stand back:
Almost 350,000 students are being forced to stay at home on Thursday as second Level teachers strike in a row over junior cert reforms.
The ASTI and TUI held further talks on the issue of junior cert reform with Education Minister Jan O'Sullivan last week.
Ms O'Sullivan claims there is "no basis" for secondary teachers to go ahead with tomorrow's one day strike. She wants teachers to assess 40 per cent the work of their own students, however the unions say there is still 'considerable distance' between both sides.
Tomorrow’s industrial action follows a similar work stoppage in December and teachers unions have also warned of at least one more stoppage in the weeks ahead.
The disruption comes as leaving cert students submit CAO forms and prepare for their 'mock' exams.
