The story of Co Cavan woman Aisling Brady McCarthy, who yesterday was told murder charges against her were to be dropped after two and a half years in prison, is the day’s big story. It covers broadsheets and tabloids, with the tabloids in particular offering near total devotion to the story on their front pages.

Elsewhere on the front pages, the Irish Examiner reports on an €800m EU fund sought to aid dairy farmers. The Irish Times reports on problems facing McDonald’s, whose new artisan; burger isn’t so artisan after all it seems – at least not in the eyes of the Food Safety Authority, who have decided the global giant’s new, Irish offering isn’t up to code to sell with the artisan tagline.

Ivan spotted a story about the prevalence of ‘sexting’ among couples (Yates this morning lamented the apparent decline of traditional romance), while Kieran Cuddihy informed us that since the Ashley Madison hack, leaking the emails of all of the sites users, some 90,000 women have reportedly signed up to the dating/affair community.

Meanwhile, Ivan was bemused by US President Barack Obama’s plans to visit Alaska, where he will venture into the arctic wilderness alongside Bear Grylls, in an attempt to highlight climate change.

“Obama I see has little to do” Ivan said. “He’s nothing to be doing.”
