Every paper this morning carries either a picture or headline on the deaths of two people in Co Louth yesterday.

The Irish Times leads with the story that a ruling from Eurostat could mean bad news for the government, as the debt accrued in setting up Irish Water could become national debt. The Times leads with “EU ruling on Irish Water setback for coalition budget plan”.

The Irish Examiner meanwhile tells us of an impending price war in the skies – “Air Space wars to boost winter flyers”.

The Galway Races are also a frequently spotted story in today’s papers, with many of the tabloids offering special pullout sections on the festival.

Our own Oisín Langan is down at the festival now and met some of the punters – one of whom was a Wexford man who said he knew Ivan, and Ivan should know him and his family - with their raft of All-Ireland medals.

Ivan was sure he knew the family, but warned, “there’s a lot of people in Wexford claim to have won a lot of All-Irelands”.

Inside the appears Ivan was drawn to a story about the dangers of a lack of sleep, and Chris informed us that even after some seven years in the Newstalk Breakfast presenter’s chair, he just can’t get used to those early mornings.
