Tourism Ireland hopes to attract over 7.7 million people to Ireland in the next 12 months

Tourism Ireland is hoping to set a new record for the number of people visiting Ireland next year.

It is launching its 2015 marketing plans this morning - with a target of 7.74 million visitors over the next 12 months.

The strategy includes new TV ads which will be rolled out in January 2015 in 22 markets around the world and features music from Dublin band Kodaline.

Newstalk Breakfast spoke to the Head of Tourism Ireland is Niall Gibbons this morning and he says they're aiming high: "We have a very solid base to build on for 2015."

He also stated that Ireland is not a cheap destination but is a valued one: 

 

Dublin Airport reported yesterday they had passed 20 million passenger mark for this year.

More than 1.3 million extra passengers have already passed through the airport than in 2013, which is a 7% increase.
