US gun control is under the spotlight again after a girl (9) accidentally shot and killed her shooting instructor. Police in Arizona have released video footage of the moments before the incident.
Charles Vacca (39) was teaching the girl how to use an automatic Uzi sub-machine gun when she lost control of the gun and shot Mr Vacca in the head on Monday.
Mr Vacca was brought to University Medical Centre in Las Vegas, where he died from his injuries.
Video footage shows Mr Vacca tutoring the girl on the correct way to hold the gun and the correct stance to take. The girl takes a single shot, before Mr Vacca advises her to go "full auto".
Authorities said the girl was at the 'Last Stop' outdoor shooting range with her parents. No charges are expected to be filed.
Chris Stone is the director of federal affairs at Gun Owners of America. He told Newstalk Breakfast that it is not unusual for a young child to learn to shoot.
