Last night a homeless man died on a doorstep, a stone’s throw from Government buildings. The man's body was discovered on Molesworth Street, less than 50 metres from Leinster House, at around 8.30am this morning.

With the number of homeless rising steadily, and the coldest winter forecast in decades, Henry McKean and Luke Benson visited the Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless People to ask how they felt about a homeless man dying outside the Dáil.

Ivan Yates and Chris Donoghue discussed the issue on Newstalk Breakfast this morning with Ivan stating: "There is an emergency need for more shelter."

"If you are going to a Christmas party in the next few weeks and you see someone sleeping rough, would you give them money? Would you not? What responsibility does society have?"

"Early intervention is the critical issue. It is a multi-layered issue."
