People who want to have their say on Irish water services, and Irish Water, are being invited to join a new forum.

The independent group will have 32 members, drawn from a combination of domestic consumers and organisations.

The chairman of the Public Water Forum is promising a 'place where different views can be aired and listened to with respect'.

Dr Tom Collins is already the Chair of the Governing Body of DIT and of IT Blanchardstown in Dublin.

He has reportedly waived his proposed annual fee to head the new group, which will feed into the work of Irish Water and the Commission for Energy Regulation.

12 members will be drawn from organisations in sectors like industry and agriculture, while the remaining 20 will be domestic consumers.

People who have not registered with Irish Water or refuse to pay bills are welcome to apply, and Dr Collins says he does not want to lead 'a community of believers'.

He told Newstalk what it is all about.

While trade Unions affiliated with the Right 2 Water campaign are holding a series of town hall meetings to discuss what they call ‘policy principles which should underpin a future progressive government’.

This is part of a new campaign called 'Right 2 Change'.

The first of the meetings will take place tonight: one in the Red Cow Inn in Dublin and another in the Clarion in Limerick.

Brendan Ogle is spokesperson for the Unite trade union, and Right 2 Water.

He told Newstalk Breakfast their polices are about addressing inequalities.
