The Taoiseach have Tanaiste have signalled that a decision on water charges may not be reached this week.
Speaking at the opening of a local enterprise office in Mullingar, Eamon Gilmore says he hopes the government will reach a decision in the not too distant future.
He says a decision on water charges should in fact have been made months ago. But despite a looming election, Mr. Gilmore is refusing to be rushed now.
While Mr. Kenny says he hopes a decision will be finalised soon.
Despite repeated questions about if the public would be told about water charges after the Cabinet meeting tomorrow, Mr. Kenny would not be drawn.
The Cabinet is due to discuss the charge again tomorrow - but concerns remain in Labour about the metering programme and ability to pay which may not be ironed out in advance of the meeting.
Labour are looking to have the final cost and the standing charge reduced, as well as a speeding up the installation of water meters, while Fine Gael sources have accused Eamon Gilmore's party of stalling.
Newstalk's Political Editor Shane Coleman says the government wants a deal in place ahead of tomorrow's Cabinet meeting.
He told Newstalk Breakfast earlier that the future of the coalition is in doubt if that does not happen.
It comes as reports circulate that the Tánaiste is to meet with Labour MEP Phil Prendergast after her call for him to be replaced as leader.
