French detectives are returning to West Cork today to investigate the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.
Three french police officers will interview and re-interview witnesses, and they will also interview some gardaí involved in the original investigation.
They will compile and submit a file to a Parisian judge within weeks.
Ms Toscan du Plantier was attacked and killed at her holiday home near Schull in December 1996.
Her younger brother Bertrand Bouniol told Newstalk.com's Breakfast show that he hopes the family will finally have justice for Sophie:
France has that ability to investigate the murder of any of its citizens anywhere in Europe.
The return visit comes after former Justice Minister Dermot Ahern said Sophie's killer will never be brought to justice.
