Gardaí are continuing to question a woman in her 20s in connection with the death of a mother of one in Blanchardstown in Dublin.

Bridget Bernadette Cash (20), who had a 2-year-old son, was found dead in a house in Warrenstown Walk yesterday morning. She had suffered head injuries.

It is understood she may have been the victim of an assault following a party at the house the night before.

A post-mortem was carried out last night. It's understood gardaí are expected to launch a murder inquiry.

The woman being questioned is being held at Blanchardstown garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Speaking to Newstalk Breakfast, Herald reporter Alan O'Keefe said gardaí believe those present at the party fled the scene.

In an appeal broadcast yesterday evening, Superintendent David Taylor said gardaí want to speak to anyone who was in the Walkinstown Road area between 5pm yesterday evening and 11am this morning.
