Yesterday Kilmacud Crokes announced that former Down All Ireland winner Conor Deegan is to become the club's new manager.

The decision means that the Newstalk GAA contributor's time in charge of Ballyboden St Endas has come to an end.

Conor dropped into studio to tell the lads why he has made the move to the Stillorgan-based club where he played and coached in the past.

"They're my old club who I played for, coached and trained so in some ways, I'm going back home," said Conor, admitting that it was bittersweet to leave Ballyboden.

Like the other Dublin teams, the club is packed with immense amounts of talent.

"I have been able to look at Crokes from afar for years and they've always had quality players. But also in the last few years, they haven't won anything and there are question marks that have to be solved."

And Conor is under no illusions about how tough and competitive it will be for his team due to the strength of rival teams like Ballymun Kickhams, St Jude's, St Vincent's, his former team Ballyboden, St Brigid's and Oliver Plunkett's.
