‘Tallaght man retires’ is not often a headline that moves the markets and gets headlines all over the world but that’s what happened this week when Alan Joyce said he was to retire from the top job at Qantas Airways in Australia - after 15 years as chief executive.
He’s worked through a major financial crisis, a pandemic, and the vagaries of air travel including pressures from environmental and political lobby groups. But he’s never stopped being a proud Irishman.
