Most people would accept that body image is a huge part of the social media age.

A desire to conform to a certain idea of beauty can lead people to want to change their buttocks, breasts or any number of other body parts in order to appear as they feel society desires.

For those who suffer from Apotemnophilia though, the desire is not to conform to society but to a deeply ingrained idea of how they should look.

To tell us more about this disorder we’re joined by Neuroscientist in Trinity College Cambridge; Dr. Baland Jalal.

First aired on 3/3/2018
