A new study shows pregnant women who hide their smoking habit could miss out on vital monitoring and could have more problems in the long run.
The study by The Coombe Hospital in Dublin and UCD found a large number of women with high carbon monoxide levels meaning they smoke had not declared their cigarette use.
This can lead to lower birth weight of babies and other health related problems.
Better educated women are more likely to lie about their smoking habit and do not get the level of monitoring they require.
