The actor who played Cliff Barnes in the hit Texas soap opera died this week, Ken Kercheval was 83.

He played the beleaguered brother in law to Larry Hagman’s oil baron JR Ewing. Kercheval and Hagman were the only members of the cast to feature in all 14 seasons of the soap.

This got us thinking about how we still celebrate Dallas and how Ireland wanted to copy everything about the series. Henry McKean reports.
