Attack on young woman not a 'hate crime' according to Gardai

Gardai investigating an attack on a young woman in Dundrum in Dublin say they do not believe it was racially motivated and are not investigating it as a ‘hate crime’. The victim, who has just completed her Leaving Certificate, made a complaint to gardaí detailing the assault and alleging the attackers had pulled off the hijab she was wearing. In light of the attack – there have been calls on government to implement hate crime legislation, Ciara talked to Dr Ali Selim from the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland and heard from listeners.
