A cyclist who was knocked off her bike by a truck has been told by a judge that she contributed to her own injuries by not wearing a helmet. The truck hit off her shoulder which made her lose her balance and all control of the bike. She had a head injury which meant she got a concussion and had injuries on her face, shoulder and arm.
The cyclist sued the Motor Insurance Bureau of Ireland because the lorry was untraced. The judge awarded her €20,000 but reduced it by €4,000 because she had not been wearing a helmet, which would have minimised her injuries.
