Living off the grid, which means living with little or no reliance on public entities like electricity or water systems, has been seen to have an extremely positive impact on the environment and one’s own carbon footprint.

But how does a person go about living off the grid, and can things such as planning permission and planning laws, prevent people from choosing this lifestyle?
