A Garda who was suspended for three years after giving a unclaimed bike to an elderly man during the pandemic and failing to fill out the proper documentation should have all disciplinary charges lifted according to a Garda disciplinary panel.

The case has brought about the conversation around community policing. How involved still are Gardai in the communities they serve and protect? And what is restraining them from engaging with the community as much as they once did?
