Growing up in Ireland hitchhiking was the norm if you didn’t own a car or you were young and free, but why is it rare to see it these days? And would you stop for a stranger thumbing a lift? We sent Henry McKean to the midlands to see if anyone would give him a lift. With charity founder and host of the Love and Courage podcast Ruairí McKiernan, he is well known for his hitchhiking adventures. He even wrote a bestselling book about it called Hitching for Hope – a Journey into the Heart and Soul of Ireland about his adventures.
