Further Education Minister Simon Harris is appealing to homeowners to rent out their spare rooms to students under a scheme that could see them earn up to €14,000 a year tax-free.
This comes as student unions across the country have warned that accommodation pressures are mounting as a result of both the housing and Ukrainian crises.
Discussing this situation further Newstalk Breakfast spoke to Professor Linda Doyle Provost and President of Trinity College Dublin and also Caitlin-Faye Maniti is the outgoing President of the Irish Second-Level Students' Union and is struggling to find accommodation for college this September.
