Rugby’s Head Injury Assessment has been exposed as unfit for purpose.

That’s according to the safety campaign group “Progressive Rugby”, who yesterday made a statement condemning the selection of Ireland captain Johnny Sexton for tomorrow’s second test against the All Blacks after he failed an in-game HIA last week.

Professor John Fairclough is a former president of the British Sports Trauma Association and a spokesperson for Progressive Rugby
