It’s been five years since town councils were abolished, but a Labour-backed bill is in front of the Oireachtas committee for housing planning and local government today and if it’s passed it would see the councils restored.  

We spoke with former Labour Senator Marie Moloney and Fine Gael Cork City Councillor Kay Dawson to discuss the potential positives and negatives for local governance.
