Borrisokane, the former British Army garrison town of 800 in rural Tipperary got news in recent days they will be hosting a new direct provision centre for 80 asylum seekers, or 12 families.
The residents will move in, on a phased basis. Like other small towns the news has been greeted with a mix of shock and fear but also warmth and welcome. Henry McKean visited Borrisokane and checked out the new centre, met business leaders and the community and sent us this report. |
