One in eight schools in the Portmarnock-Malahide-Kinsealy areas will be required to drop a Catholic ethos in favour of a non denominational or multi denominational one. Some are opposing a proposed switch in patronage by warning that events such as Christmas, Shrove Tuesday and St Patrick’s Day will no longer be marked.
