The acclaimed new Netflix series Adolescence delves deep into the dark impact the internet can have on boys and young men.
The crime drama tells the tale of a 13-year-old old boy who is arrested and charged with a horrific crime.
The revelation leaves his family reeling and poses big questions about the harmful impact social media can have on vulnerable young minds.
“Our children are not caught in a benign activity upstairs,” psychotherapist Dr Richard Hogan told Newstalk Breakfast.
“There are very bad actors involved here, potentially.
“With a bit of supervision, with really good digital literacy in schools, with good parents and good boundaries, our children can engage with technology and have that life.
“So, it’s not about sensationalising or scaring parents - this is a dramatisation.”
