The Dutch airline KLM got itself into a bit of bother on twitter recently when it responded to a query about breastfeeding on flights.
The tweet read: “Breastfeeding is permitted at KLM flights. However, to ensure that all our passengers of all backgrounds feel comfortable on board, we may request a mother to cover herself while breastfeeding, should other passengers be offended by this.”
The reaction hasn’t been positive, and one person who took pen to paper about it is Tanya Sweeney, freelance journalist writing about it in today’s Irish Times.
