An extra half a billion euro has been allocated to the housing capital budget next year.

This is in order to facilitate the construction of 9,500 new social housing units.

Over 12,000 units would be added to the social housing stock, including leased units.

So with this provision for social housing, The Hard Shoulder put together a panel of experts, who are at the centre of building houses.

James Benson is Director of Irish Home Builders Association, Enda McGuane is Chair of the Western Region for the Society of Chartered Surveyors in Ireland, and Tom Crosse is President of the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers.

They joined Kieran on Wednesday to give their views on the Government's plan.
