Chewing gum litter fines are rarely being issued because the perpetrators are too difficult to catch. 

That’s according to a story in this morning’s Irish Independent, which found that local authorities are finding it hard to implement the €150 fine as the perpetrator has to be caught in the act by a council warden.

Kieran was joined by Niall McNelis, Labour Councillor and Chairperson of Galway Tidy Towns and Jim Callery Acting Environmental Awareness Officer at Wicklow County Council.
