Cheers and celebrations rang from Cork City Hall last night, as a controversial Busconnects-style plan was rejected by city councillors.

The first phase of the €4m Wilton Corridor Project garnered opposition from residents who would have lost portions of their front gardens to bus and cycle lanes.

Our cities are growing, our infrastructure lacking - doesn’t something need to be sacrificed on the altar of progress?

To debate this question are two members of Cork City Council who fell on opposite sides of the vote, Fianna Fail Councillor Fergal Dennehy and Green Party Councillor in Cork City Council, Collette Finn.
