According to a new survey by Currys, more and more parents doubt their kids can operate the cooker or a washing machine, so are sending their kids off to college with high tech devices like an air fryer.

Do we need to do more to teach these basic skills such as cooking and cleaning, and how do we get it across to our children?

Newstalk’s Henry McKean went to ask the youth of Athlone about their ability to use appliances, and Kieran was joined by JP McMahon, Galway Chef and Restaurateur and Michelle Harding, Founder of School of Life, to discuss.
