One of the most controversial moments of the first leaders debate of the general election campaign was a question on illegal drugs. Pat Kenny first addressed Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin, asking him if he had ever consumed illegal drugs "in any shape or form."

Mr Martin responded by saying that he never had, but Fine Gael leader Varadkar seemed to struggle when pressed further. The Taoiseach said: "I answered that question in a Hot Press interview about 12 or 13 years ago and I answered it truthfully."

Deputy Editor of Hot Press Stuart Clarke joined Ivan on The Hard Shoulder to discuss the context of the interview and why he supports the decriminalisation of drugs in Ireland.
