It was reported this weekend in the Mail on Sunday that the Government is considering allowing electric cars to use bus lanes and avail of free parking in cities

Plans are being drawn up to give electric cars special ‘green number plates’.

These plates would give them special permission to drive in bus lanes.

Motoring journalist Geraldine Herbert told Shane Beatty on this evening's edition of the Hard Shoulder why they shouldn't be allowed in a bus lane.
