A video shared on social media yesterday from inside the National Maternity Hosptial showed a large crowd outside the hospital believed to be demonstrating against abortion services, and it has caused great consternation.

Obstetrician and hospital staff member Professor Mary Higgins posted a video of the protest online. She said it took place under the windows of a postnatal ward and “in front of people leaving after a miscarriage”.

David Quinn is a columnist at the Sunday Times and Director at the Iona Institute, and told Ivan why it is people's right to hold a vigil or demonstration.
