We have heard from a number of our listeners who have noticed a price hike when out and about enjoying the hospitality sector.
Owner of the Cherrytree pub, Gerry McKeogh and Consumer journalist with the Irish Times Conor Pope joined Kieran to discuss the issue.
McKeogh reported a modest increase in the price of a pint from €5 to €5.20. He made the point that the hospitality industry has heavily invested in itself during the downtime of lockdown.
Conor Pope remarked that the publicans and restauranteurs have had a terrible time over the last year. Pope added that the hospitality industry will be experiencing overhead costs that will be invisible to the public but will affect business nonetheless.
