Landlords withdrawing their properties from the private rental market is a major cause of Dublin’s family Homelessness crisis.

That’s according to a recently released Focus Ireland Report which found that the majority of surveyed families thought that having to leave private rental accommodation was the root cause of their homelessness.

We ask Margaret McCormack, Information Officer at the Irish Property Owners Association and Marian Finnegan, Chief economist with Sherry Fitzgerald, why Landlords are shutting up shop, and why those who are buying, aren't buying to rent.
