There has been mixed reaction to the news that gardaí are to be given additional powers to impose fines on those who breach certain Level 5 restrictions.

The Cabinet has agreed that gardaí will be given powers to fine people who refuse to break up a party in their home.

While people making their way to a house party who refuse to leave an area, after being requested to do so by gardaí, could also face a fine.
