Why do we not have enough social workers?

Recruitment and retention are the key issues, according to the Irish Association of Social Workers who appeared before the Oireachtas Committee on Children and Youth Affairs earlier this week.

Chairperson of the association, Áine McGuirk, spoke to Ivan about the role they play in supporting vulnerable families, and what needs to be done to increase the numbers.
