Figures provided by Health Minister Simon Harris to Fianna Fáil Health Spokesperson Stephen Donnelly show that hospitals now have 450 consultant jobs which are not filled on a permanent basis?

The reason?  Well it’s been linked to trying to recruit new entrant specialists on salaries that are 30% less than their established colleagues.

Does something need to change in order to get these posts filled?

Anthony O’Connor, consultant gastroenterologist at Tallaght University Hospital joined Ivan to tell him why it's not as simple as just being about pay parity.
