Nightingale Nursing Home has been left in a state of ‘absolute emergency’.

It's after the majority of staff and 26 of the 28 residents tested positive for the coronavirus.

The nursing home in Ballinasloe, has been left with just one nurse, one care assistant, a chef, and a food server.

It’s after all other staff members tested positive for the coronavirus.

Patricia McGowan is the Director of Nursing at Nightingale Nursing Home, and she joined Kieran on Thursday's edition of The Hard Shoulder.  She explained just what they are going through, and the lengths they're trying to go to in order to keep staff and residents safe.

Michael Fitzmaurice, Independent TD for Roscommon/Galway, and Martin Daly, Galway GP and former IMO President, also gave their views.
